"A house of my own" by Sandra Cisneros and "Saturday at the canal" by Gary Soto

First of all, Poems isnt my thing. Blog isnt my ideal of things to do. I'm required to do this thing, because it's part of my grade.

Anyway.........

"A house of my own" by Sandra Cisneros is short and sweet poem. I think it means when started attend college, Everything is on your own. Basically, No more parent's help. If you want to get a good grades, you'll have to work for it. To get good grades, you will have to get help on your own time. You will have to get up and get ready for school on your own time. You make your own decisions. Everything going on with your life is your own success.

"Saturday at the canal" by Gary Soto is also short and sweet poem. I feel the similar to this story. When I was in High School, I got really tired of teacher trying to teach us. I decide to go and talk with principle. I talked to my Principle and see if I can graduate early. Pretty much I got plenty of credits to graduate. They wanted me to attend college after graduate, I applied at Linn State Technology College, and got accepted. I thought everything would be same. I was wrong. I got married, and a son. I realized, "Wow, This isnt high school anymore." I had to find a way to support my family. Be careful what u wish for. Everything isnt go smooth what u been expecting. Be patient, and get much educations you can get.

Wow, I know how scary it can be when you're on your own and try very hard to support your family but you seem like you made it through and went back to college and try to get a degree. I truly respect what you did for your family. I hope you could stay Gallaudet for 4 or 5 years with us! Go Class of 2012!

Thanks for the opening commentary about this not being your thing. Regardless, you did a nice job connecting to the literature. I liked when you wrote "Be careful what u wish for". I think your experiences will certainly help your peers.
I hope along the semester you can find merits to the readings and blogging:)

Wow, after high school, while you were at college, you got married? Tough break. I like when you said get more education as you can get. It is going to be benefical down the road. I still can't believe that you are married and have a son. WOW!

I completely understand where u come from, especially when you have a child. I cant say I understand how the marriage went, but I applause you for the journey that u went through. Overall, great connection with Soto. Do you have any home that you would feel like you are in your own world in Sandra's short poem? :)

Wow, you are deeply connected with the second poet. But, true, never rush into things that are greatly significant. That's nice to have you around in our class to know the significane of young lives we all have. So, thanks for share that with us and I surely will cherish my life even more. :)

Mr. Smoot!

I believe you are a big role model in our class, giving us a tips about life because you went through a lot. What is the best about you is that you still want education, came back to college. I know some friends of mine who never came back to college. Go Mr. Smoot! :)
